There are many things to see in Jaisalmer, from exploring the fort, visiting the Havalis, walking through the old town with its beutiful carved buildings to having a walk around the peaceful Gadisar Lake.
The fort with its stunning sandstone carvings has recently been given world heritage status. Part of the enjoyment of walking around the fort is getting lost in the winding streets making room for cows to pass. Visit the Jain Temples, catch a glimpse of how people live and have a tour around the Fort Palace Museum.
The three Havalis built in the 18th century for wealthy merchants are situated outside of the fort. They are highly decorated and have a wealth of fine stone carvings.
Gadisar Lake once was the city's only water supply. It has many sandstone temples and ghats it is a peaceful place to while away a couple of hours (remember to take some bread to feed the many cat fish!!!).
